The 100 network member participants were interviewed because: (1) they were identified by the patient as ‘involved in their care’; (2) the patient gave consent to invite them to participate; (3) the researcher was able to identify who they were and get contact details for them; (4) they responded to an invitation and agreed to take part in an interview about the patient who had identified them.
